Natural Water Bodies
Natural Water Bodies
Natural water bodies such as lakes, ponds and rivers as well as man-made dams and reservoirs are at the mercy of varying environmental conditions. Rapid changes in the earth’s climate such as global warming, contribute in ways that we are yet to fully understand. When these factors are combined with the pressures we as humans place on our limited water resources, the prognosis is far from positive and requires urgent action.
Water toxicity
How we encroach upon, develop and farm the land surrounding these inland natural water bodies often compromises their delicately balanced ecosystems. Irresponsible fertilisation practices in farming, such as the excessive use of nitrates, leads to environmentally harmful runoff into rivers and lakes. The resultant increase in water toxicity causes harmful algae blooms and flaura and fauna die-offs. The increase in temperature due to greater periods of exposure to sunlight, coupled with the addition of nitrates and other agricultural runoff has seen these water bodies going from self-balancing ecosystems to ones requiring constant testing and remedial action in order to maintain them.
Biomass as well waste removal
Clearing floating algae, capturing water-health data with customised sensors and determining what is in these waters is where RanMarine is able to help.
RanMarine’s ASVs are used to remove biomass efficiently and effectively from lakes, ponds, dams and reservoirs. The data relating to water health can be captured and delivered to our customers via our online customer portal. By gauging the existing levels of nitrogen build up, dissolved oxygen and pH levels, amongst other data options, we are able to offer a clear map of what is present in the waterbody, and allow the operators to pinpoint where problems exist.
